Comparative Investigation on Small-Strain Stiffness Characteristics of Undisturbed and Compacted Highly Weathered Granites at Various Densities

To investigate the small-strain stiffness characteristics of highly weathered granite (HWG), a resonance column test system was used to conduct tests on taken from Lincang City, Yunnan Province, China. The effects effective consolidation stress and structural changes is caused by remodeling process initial dry density HWG. Furthermore, difference between data other geotechnical materials were compared analyzed. results show that maximum dynamic shear modulus G max remodeled samples greater than undisturbed once smaller 300 kPa, but opposite result observed exceeds phenomenon also explained microscopic perspective based scanning electron microscopy (SEM). id="M2"> gradually increases with increase in stress. At an identical stress, ratio id="M3"> / − γ curves granites at different densities are nearly consistent. Additionally, according data, mathematical model id="M4"> for considering pressure established agrees well practical engineering cases. range variation id="M5"> given research results, which id="M6"> obtained existing research, this work can provide valuable reference analyzing stability buildings construction sites.
